Ghoul School is a thrilling fantasy book that transports readers to the enchanting world of Siliguri, the friendly ghost and a student of ISB-International School of Bhoot. This splendid book has been written by one of my favourite authors – Vibha Batra.

The book revolves around the adventures of Siliguri – a talented young ghost and his human friend, Kachori. The story begins with Siliguri winning the Ghost-Star of The Year award at his school ISB, International School of Bhoot where all the ghosts and ghouls study. And today was not a regular day in ISB. “The award for the Ghost-Star of the Year goes to Siliguri!” announced the principal. The auditorium of ISB exploded in pandemonium. The principal commended the eleven-year-old Bhoot, Siliguri on his courage and bravery. He had scared a couple of humans away from their school campus. Or so everyone thought. But Siliguri knew he hadn’t – he thought he couldn’t scare even a fly!

Shortly after, he befriends the needy Kachori who was facing grave hardships. Siliguri is valiant and courageous and would go to any lengths to protect his friends. On the other hand, the humorous Kachori is caring and thoughtful. She is eager to help her mother to overcome their struggles and hardships.

Siliguri and Kachori team up to take revenge on their enemies. Siliguri leaves no stone unturned in order to help Kachori with her financial struggles. And if you are wondering how Kachori could see Siliguri, Kachori was the only human who could see ghosts! She was a ghostbuster!!

They both team up and Kachori devises a cunning plan to earn a quick buck and help her mother. Kachori runs a ghostbusting business and plans to have Siliguri scare the living daylights out of people so that they would come running to Kachori to bust some ghosts. The plan worked perfectly and Kachori made a truckload of money. Just when all was going well, word on the street was that Ghoulella de Vil, a gruesome terrorist had broken out of prison and was free again. Siliguri shook it off, but after a few weeks, there were numerous sightings of the fearsome ghoul. It was also known to ghosts and ghouls that Ghoulella was haunting the house of one of Kachori’s friends. Will Siliguri and Kachori be able to help this time to chase away the gruesome ghoul??

Vibha Batra’s writing style is captivating and descriptive, and left me eagerly turning from page to page. Her words are very easy to understand and create vivid images in the mind. The illustrations are rather glorious and help us visualize the story.

The theme of the book is about the strong bond of friendship and to be loyal to each other through thick and thin. It also shows that there may be hurdles in life, but we must not stop and face them fearlessly to overcome them and finally achieve success.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Ghoul School as it sparked my imagination and kept me at the edge of my seat. I would recommend the book to readers who enjoy fantasy novels and books about strong friendships. Ideal for ages 8 and above because of its simple language and funny plot.
