Here’s Amyra’s story for the #kbcPetUntrouble Contest.

Let me tell you a secret, my mom is petrified of dogs and unlike my mom I am a brave girl. I am only a little scared of dogs. So let me tell you a short story about a dog who I was never scared of, my dearest friend Mithu. My parents told me that when I was a few months old we had shifted to our new house and my first friend here was Mithu.
Mithu and I lived in the same building. We would meet everyday in the evening. I would be in my pushchair and Mithu walking around with his family. Every time Mithu would see me he would wag his tail and run towards me. Mom says that I would be leaping out of my pram to pet Mithu. The day I did not meet Mithu, I would cry and mom and dad would have to take me to uncle and aunty’s house just so that I could say hello to my friend. My papa always tells me that the only dog I went close to was Mithu. I would meet all the other dogs while comfortably sitting on papa’s shoulders.
This went on for a couple of years. Then one day I met uncle and aunty but Mithu was not there. I asked for Mithu. I was told that he had gone to Ganesh ji. That night, mom says, I cried a lot and even today while writing about him, I feel a little sad. I don’t remember Mithu that well now, but I will always love him. My teachers told me in school that there is an invisible string that connects our hearts with the hearts of all those we love and miss. I will always be connected to my Mithu with this invisible string and maybe he will ask Ganesh ji to send an unicorn for me!
