Cyrus is a curious child, with questions about everything – the Why’s surround his family members and teachers. Not everyone is amused by his relentless questions, with some of his teachers sending him to the naughty corner and friends making fun of him, calling him “Cyrus the Whyrus”.
The book is based on the true story of Jadav Payeng, who lives in the village of Majuli in Assam. He pleaded with the forest department to plant trees there, but they were not interested, and instead handed him a bag of bamboo seeds.
The book is a collection of four stories. Each story has the ever-curious Curie, who is a human who can speak the language of animals, and her wonderful dog Hubble, going on adventures, exploring either nocturnal creatures, aquatic life, the importance of the sun or gravity.
After all the animals have been sent to the centre, Shyam realises that one tortoise has been left behind! His Thatha tells him to look after it, while he goes to inform the animal centre. But, the tortoise, who Shyam names Passepartout, disappears!
Written in rhyme, the book introduces the readers to birds that they see around them like the lorikeet, owl, crow, woodpecker and many more. A must read for bird lovers!
