Another scrumptious offering from Radhika Suri of the “Yummylicious Make-Belief Series” which has delightful food-centric books for toddlers.
The story starts with Ajji (Grandmother in Kannada) cuddling with her grandchildren, Kai and Pai in a banana orchard. The children want to eat soft fluffy idlis and help their Ajji soak rice and lentils. What follows is a delightful effort by the young ones to ferment the batter on a cloudy day. Will the kids succeed in getting their steaming hot idlis?
This short story has rich descriptive words of the colour and texture of the steaming pillowy-soft idlis and gentle lyrical repetitive scheme. The simple language and bright illustrations are entertaining. Younger ones will enjoy listening to the story and pre-schoolers (like Siddhanth) will try to read the words.
Four year old Sid really enjoyed reading a story about kids who love idlis as much as he does! Another thing that he enjoyed were the fun creative activities at the end of the book.
This mouth-watering book from author Radhika Suri is sure to have your kiddo in splits and probably gulping down an idli or two.
