Just before Christmas, Amardeep’s 4yo son Neil was asked a very interesting question by his teacher: “What do you want from Santa?”
Neil replied: “I want a rainbow every day”.
When Amardeep shared this with me, it warmed the cockles of my heart. I realised our little avid readers appreciate non tangible things more than anything else, that make the world a better place. And this is exactly what drives me every single day to raise readers together with our wonderful community kids book café!
This incident also sparked the idea of making our own rainbow that we can appreciate every day. A rainbow, we can even gift to someone who is feeling low… in fact we can make rainbows for more than one person too! [This idea is not new – it has also been shared in another inspiring book called The World Made a RAINBOW]. So taking inspiration from Neil and the book and the fact that we all need some positive vibes while the covid cases are surging all over the world right now, we present:

- Create a Rainbow. With any medium – you can draw it, colour it with crayons/pencils – anything at all, paint it, use mixed media, use recycled things, absolutely anything and you don’t have to stick to VIBGYOR colours!
- Give your rainbow a creative name
- Click a picture of your #kbcRAINBOW (the child can be holding it)
- Share the picture of your #kbcRAINBOW (with or without your child – that is optional!) over social media tagging kbc and Scholastic India (all of our social media handles have been shared below. Kindly follow all and share on the platforms you are comfortable with).
- Gift it (or another one) to your friend/family member to cheer him/her up and to show that you miss him/her.
